Spider-Man has been around for over 30 years now. He’s had his ups and downs, but he’s always remained true to himself. What makes him so special?
Peter Parker was born in Queens, New York City. His parents died when he was young, leaving him to live with Aunt May and Uncle Ben. Peter grew up in the shadow of his uncle, who was also bitten by a radioactive spider and became Spider-Man.
He went through a lot growing up, but he never let anyone or anything get in his way. He overcame great odds to become a hero, and he continues to inspire us today.
Spider-Man is one of Marvel Comics most iconic characters. The character first appeared in 1962 as part of Stan Lee and Steve Ditko’s Fantastic Four series. In 1964, Spider-Man joined the ranks of other Marvel superheroes such as Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Hulk, Daredevil, Black Panther, Luke Cage, Wolverine, Ghost Rider, Punisher, Silver Surfer, Doctor Strange, Storm, and many more.
Spider-Man has gone on to appear in various media including video games, television shows, movies, radio shows, and even literature.
In 2010, Sony Pictures released their own version of Spider-Man into theaters. The film featured Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Rhys Ifans as Norman Osborn, Denis Leary as Harry Osbourne, Sally Field as Aunt May, and Jamie Foxx as Electro. The movie received mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike. It made $821 million worldwide.
In 2011, Disney purchased Marvel Studios and began producing their own films based on Marvel characters. Their first release was the superhero blockbuster “The Avengers.” The film features an ensemble cast of actors portraying major Marvel characters like Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Nick Fury, and others.
