Infinera has announced its new Infinera XS family of high performance, low power optical transceivers. The new devices offer a combination of features that enable them to meet the requirements of next generation networking applications such as 100 Gbps Ethernet, 40 Gbps Fibre Channel, and 10GbE/40GbE.

These transceivers combine advanced silicon photonic technologies with state-of-the-art packaging techniques to provide a complete solution for data centre connectivity.

The new Infinera XR1 family of single mode transceiver modules are ideal for use in Gigabit Ethernet (GE) networks and can be used in both copper and fibre based GE networks. The Infinera XR2 family of multimode transceivers are designed for use in up to four channel GE networks and can also be used in copper or fibre based GE networks. Both families of transceivers feature a compact form factor and an integrated heat spreader which allows for easy installation into standard 19 inch racks.
The Infinera XS4 family of multi-mode transceivers offers a unique combination of performance, reliability, and flexibility. It provides a full range of channel counts from 4 to 32 channels and supports all major industry standards including SFP+, QSFP+ and CXP+. In addition, it includes a fully compliant interface for 10GBASE-SR, enabling users to take advantage of the benefits offered by this emerging technology.
The Infinera XS5 family of multi-mode and single mode transceivers support the most popular industry standards including SFP+ and MSA. This enables these transceivers to be used in the majority of existing network infrastructures.
The Infinerra XS6 family of multi-mode/single mode transceivers are designed to operate at speeds of up to 30 Gbaud over distances of up to 500 metres on single mode optics. They also include a fully compliant interface for 25GBase-LRM, enabling users to take full advantage of the benefits offered.
The Infinera Tx4 family of single mode transceivers are ideal for use in GE networks and can be used either in copper or fibre based networks. The Tx4 family is available in two models: one supporting up to 16 channels and another supporting up to 64 channels.
The Infinerata Rx4 family of multi-channel transceivers is designed for use in GE networks. The Rx4 family is available in three models: one supporting up 8 channels, one supporting up to 24 channels, and one supporting up to 48 channels.
