There are rumours that a new alien invasion movie is being planned. If true, here are some details about the upcoming film.
In September 2014, it was announced that Paramount Pictures had acquired the rights to produce an Alien vs Predator film with David Fincher set as director. The script will be written by Josh Friedman (Gravity) who also wrote the screenplay for Terminator Genisys.
In June 2015, Variety reported that 20th Century Fox and New Regency were developing an Alien vs Predator film. It was produced by John Davis, Dan Lin, Michael De Luca, Jennifer Davisson Killoran, and Art Linson.
On July 13, 2017, Collider published a report stating that Fox and Warner Bros. have teamed up to develop an Alien vs. Predator movie. The film will be directed by Neill Blomkamp from his own script.
On August 1, 2018, IGN confirmed that Fox and Warner Bros.’s Alien vs. Predator project had officially moved forward, with James Cameron producing through his Lightstorm Entertainment banner. In January 2019, it was revealed that the film’s title would be Alien: Covenant. On March 16, 2019, it was announced that Ridley Scott would return to direct the sequel.
On May 10, 2019, it was reported that Fox and Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox assets would include the Alien franchise. This includes the Alien films, Alien Resurrection, Prometheus, and Alien: Covenant.
On May 23, 2019, Deadline reported that 20th Century Studios will release the first instalment of the Alien series on April 26, 2020.
